They are taken when Burton upon Trent suffered some quite severe
weather. Reports in the papers claimed Burton and parts of Derby
had a Tornado pass through. 6/1999
The damage was extensive in some parts of Burton
upon Trent, mainly to homes and office premises. In my life time
so far I have never seen anything like it. One image springs to
mind the most, standing on Henhurst Hill and watching what could
only be described as a river flowing down the road. It was so
deep in places that cars were almost covered to the roof line.
Some cars had been washed off the owners drives.
Even fire engines were caught out with the depth of water in some
places.

Car was washed off drive, Land Rover driver thought he could drive

Water was flowing for over 1 mile like this.
Any house below the road level was flooded out and quite a few
were.
